A little over ten years later, in 2018, Dan took me back to that hike on a surprise trip to Hawaii in December, just the two of us. We hiked the Alakai Swamp Trail, which I really loved at the time. The hike ends in a beautiful lookout over Hanalei Bay, which is a place Dan has spent a lot of time over the years.
