If a wedding invitation says “black tie optional,” showing up in a sundress and sandals simply isn’t appropriate—nor is showing up in a ball gown for a casual wedding. You don’t RSVP for a plus one, but bring one anyway. If you’re given a plus one on your invite, go ahead and RSVP for two. You forget to RSVP.
