They celebrated with a surprise engagement party with family and friends, turning an intimate proposal into a festive celebration full of love and support.[/field] It included heartfelt readings and prayers from family and friends, as well as a special musical performance by one of the groomsmen.
Matt then gathered all of their friends for an epic surprise engagement party at Rocco’s in Culver City. The only requirements: black and full length to match the BlackTie dress code. With the entire wedding party wearing black, Francesca and Matt both wore white to stand out.
Given we also got engaged shortly after Hurricane Ian, many venues were still closed with unclear sightlines into reopening dates. Nick did not have groomsmen but did get ready for the wedding with our dads and his closest friends. The wedding was blacktie, so Nick’s friends all wore tuxedos. He did not have groomsmen.
To her joy, the bridge became the timeless backdrop to their engagement. The groomsmen, clad in their sleek ensembles, presented a striking contrast against the rugged beauty of the Sierras. The flowers were predominantly white with lots of green foliage; invitations and wedding breakfast were navy, white, and gold; bridesmaids’ dresses were emerald green, and groomsmen’s suits were midnight blue. Fortunately, we had access to the Jaguar E-type which we felt was the perfect match for the blacktie theme.
Although we knew we wanted it to be a formal black-tie event, we still wanted it to be upbeat, bright, and not all too serious to reflect our personalities. There was a photographer hiding on the other side of the path, and we celebrated with a mini engagement photo shoot so we are so lucky to have photo evidence of the memory forever!
