The biggest challenge for design was recreating a timeless elegant atmosphere on a tropical island. Intentional choices such as having the ceremony in a smaller area where the grass met the sand, and hosting a seated dinner with two long tables side by side, was how we created intimacy in such a large, spacious venue.
The ceremony was a springtime inspired lush garden, with heaps of local lilac lining the aisle and filling the room with the scent of spring. A garland of fresh green and white hydrangeas wrapped around the structure and designed to look like they grew there. Guests enjoyed the ceremony from under the canopy of two custom designed large ficus trees. Later the ceremony space would be converted into a formal reception area. A game changer.
A ceremony aisle foraged from wild grasses and flora with woven chairs and natural elements played created an environment that felt elevated yet at home. Posey Pop created everything from lush, overflowing centerpieces to whimsical wild grasses and flora dotted throughout the ceremony aisles and head table.
Of course, being in Sonoma we also had plenty of wine options, the first splash being served prior to guests being seated for the ceremony. Our Ceremony florals consisted of blooming aisle arrangements that had the most color of all of the arrangements, alternating purples and blue. Everyone laughed and cried, including Sam and I.
Delicate lace detailing and a cathedral-length veil enhance its romantic appeal, making it perfect for a formal ceremony.
