We got engaged at Cumberland falls in KY. In the center of the room, coming straight from the dance floor toward the back of the room was the 32ft long kings table where the aisle pieces from ceremony were transferred and became the runner on top of this dramatic head table. It was private and intimate.

Allie was so oblivious that the proposal was about to happen that when she saw the set-up, she thought to herself “Awww how sweet, someone must have just gotten engaged here today”, but it turned out to be for her! Placing them in areas like the head table, cake table and DJ booth. He asked and of course she said yes!

Matt then gathered all of their friends for an epic surprise engagement party at Rocco’s in Culver City. They hung chandeliers in the tree behind the head table. They mixed vibrant fall colors and black details to create ethereal table scapes. Shortly after popping champagne, they were up to their ankles in sea water.

So, the last weekend I had thought I would get engaged was a no-go. The room was flipped during cocktail time, so when you re-entered the reception, a long head table sat where the original aisle was during the ceremony. We filled in a lush and long row of baby’s breath down the length of the table.

However, my mind was filled with so many thoughts, none of them related to an engagement. Their cake was a spectacular six layers with floral cascade that mimicked the cascades on the head table. Traditionally, you would think I had to know a proposal was coming, as we set off to look at a potential wedding venue.
